October 24, 2008 - Shanghai

Our bodies are totally out of wack!! We wake up today at around 2:30 am in the morning (2:30 pm in Miami we are 12 hours ahead) so we got up and checked messages and email from our friends and family and watched TV till about 4 something and went back to sleep. Around 6:15 am and not being able to sleep we got up and took the first shuttle into the City which is an hour away. BOY is there traffic!!! Shanghai has more than 17,000,000 people living here.




The Shuttle dropped us at the People’s Square. People’s Square is the political and cultureal centre of Shanghai.

We walked around and went to an area called Nanjing Road “Shanghai # 1 Street”, It is a pedestrian street, like Lincoln road in Miami beach but much BIGGER or like Ave. Florida in Buenos Aires, lots of shopping and restaurants. In this area you can find all kinds of knock offs LV, Coach, Gucci as in Chinatown in NY but on a totally different level.

There are store fronts with bigger stores in the back that have these knock offs. You have all kinds of people after you trying to sell you these knock offs. The Chinese are very friendly, funny people, no such thing as personal space, all touchy feely!! They kept touching Rey and saying very STRONG, very BIG, BIG BOSS!! No clothes or shoes for his Size. I have never laughed so much than I have today with the merchant bargaining back and forth and they insist until you buy. I bought some purses and a silk robe. Rey bought an Apple nano 4GB with viewing picture. And other things.

Ok not much seething sighting today, just lots of shopping. Back to the hotel around 7:00 pm, showered and went to sleep at 8:00 pm dinner! Maybe we will lose some weight between walking and no eating!
